"Modern Square Dancing - A New American Tradition"
Billings Montana is home of the Yellowstone Square Dance Council. Currently, 7 area clubs offer various levels of square and round dancing. Many of the clubs dance at Cedar Hall at the Metra Park fairgrounds. All clubs are open and we welcome vistors to attend any of the club dances which are normally held on a weekly basis from September through May. Most of the clubs dance Mainstream and Plus with a few clubs dancing A-1 and A-2. One club is devoted to Round Dancing.  See the Club Information Page for more details.
The Council also provides a Beginner Session starting in January for those people who want to enjoy the benefits of square dancing. Any single or couple are encourged to attend a session. See Beginner Sessions for more details.

The Council also sponsors the New Years Eve Dance, and the Magic City Hoedown every year. The Callers and Cuers Association sponsors the Grapevine Halloween Dance. Each club also sponsors special dances and visting national callers will call and cue dances during the summer. See Special Dances for a complete list and flyers for these dances and other area dances in Montana and surrounding states.

What is Modern Square Dancing
Perhaps you think you know what square dancing is from your school days. Well, think again, because this is not your father's dance routine. You will hardly recognize modern square dancing.
